Agreement to these terms
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and Byee Builds LLC ("we", "us", "our"), the developer and operator of GoalKeeper, a focus and habit app for iOS ("GoalKeeper", the "app", or the "Service"). By downloading, accessing, or using GoalKeeper, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
Short version: GoalKeeper helps you block distracting apps until your daily practice is done. We provide it as a tool, on an "as is" basis. It is not foolproof, it is not professional advice, and your subscription is billed and managed by Apple. Please read the full terms below.
The service
GoalKeeper lets you set a daily practice goal with a time block, then uses Apple's Screen Time and Family Controls frameworks to restrict selected apps and websites until that block is complete. You choose what to block, when your schedule runs, and how long apps stay unlocked afterward.
GoalKeeper has no user accounts and no backend operated by us. Your goal, your blocked-app selections, and your session history are stored locally on your device, as described in our Privacy Policy.
We may add, change, or remove features at any time, and we may suspend or discontinue the Service in whole or in part. We are not liable to you for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service.
Eligibility & age
You must be able to form a binding contract to use GoalKeeper. GoalKeeper is a general-audience productivity tool intended for adults managing their own focus and attention. It is not directed at children under 13.
If you are a minor in your jurisdiction, you may only use the app with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian, who agrees to these Terms on your behalf and is responsible for your use of the app, including any subscription purchase.
Your license
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download and use one copy of GoalKeeper on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, solely for your personal, non-commercial use, and in accordance with the Apple App Store Terms of Service.
You may not:
- Copy, modify, or create derivative works of the app
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app, except to the extent that restriction is prohibited by applicable law
- Rent, lease, lend, sell, redistribute, or sublicense the app
- Remove, alter, or obscure any proprietary notices
- Use the app in any way that violates these Terms or applicable law
Subscriptions, free trial & billing
GoalKeeper is offered through auto-renewing subscriptions. Current plans are $5.99 per month or $34.99 per year, each including a 7-day free trial for eligible new subscribers. Prices may vary by region and are subject to change; any change will apply only to future billing periods.
Free trial
If your subscription includes a free trial, you will not be charged during the trial period. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, your subscription will automatically convert to a paid subscription and your payment method will be charged. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a paid subscription.
Auto-renewal
Subscriptions automatically renew at the then-current price unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple ID account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
Managing and cancelling
All payments, renewals, and cancellations are handled by Apple through your Apple ID, not by us. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your device's Settings under your Apple ID → Subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
Refunds are handled by Apple. Because Apple processes all purchases, we cannot issue refunds directly. Refund requests are subject to Apple's policies and can be submitted at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Apple App Store terms
GoalKeeper is licensed, not sold, to you, and your use is also governed by Apple's App Store Terms of Service. The following terms apply to your use of the app and, where there is a conflict with the rest of these Terms regarding Apple, control:
- These Terms are between you and Byee Builds LLC only, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
- Apple has no obligation to furnish any maintenance or support services for the app. Any support requests should be directed to us at the contact below.
- In the event of any failure of the app to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price (if any); to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the app.
- Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims by you or any third party relating to the app, including product liability claims, claims that the app fails to conform to any legal or regulatory requirement, and claims arising under consumer protection or similar legislation.
- Apple is not responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement, or discharge of any third-party claim that the app or your use of it infringes that party's intellectual property rights.
- You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and, upon your acceptance, have the right to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.
Acceptable use
You agree to use GoalKeeper only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:
- Use the app to circumvent, disable, or interfere with security or access-control features of any device, service, or third party
- Use the app to block, restrict, or monitor a device that you do not own or are not authorized to manage
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the app or the systems it relies on
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the app or its related systems
- Use the app in any manner that could disable, overburden, damage, or impair it
App blocking is provided "as is" and is not foolproof
GoalKeeper relies on Apple's Screen Time and Family Controls frameworks to restrict apps and websites. These are tools to support your own intentions; they are not a security product or a guaranteed barrier.
Do not rely on GoalKeeper for any safety-critical purpose. Blocking may be incomplete, delayed, or unavailable due to factors outside our control - including iOS behavior, system updates, permission changes, device restarts, or deliberate workarounds. GoalKeeper is not a parental-control, security, or supervision product, and must not be relied upon to prevent access to apps, websites, or content in any situation where failure could cause harm.
You are solely responsible for your own use of your device and for the goals and restrictions you configure. You remain in control of blocking at all times: you can end any block immediately by disabling GoalKeeper's Screen Time permission in your device's iOS Settings, as described in the app. We are not responsible for any consequences of blocking that works, fails to work, or works differently than you expected.
No guaranteed results; not professional advice
GoalKeeper is a productivity and habit tool. We make no guarantee about the results you will achieve, including any improvement in focus, productivity, output, or well-being. Outcomes depend on you.
GoalKeeper does not provide medical, psychological, financial, or other professional advice, and is not a treatment for any condition. If you have concerns about your screen use or well-being, consult a qualified professional.
Intellectual property
GoalKeeper, including its software, design, text, graphics, logos, and the "GoalKeeper" and "Byee Builds" names and marks, is owned by Byee Builds LLC and protected by intellectual property laws. Except for the limited license granted above, these Terms do not grant you any right, title, or interest in the app or our intellectual property. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
Third-party services
GoalKeeper depends on services we do not control, including Apple's operating system, Screen Time and Family Controls frameworks, the App Store, and our crash-reporting and analytics providers described in our Privacy Policy. Your use of those services may be governed by their own terms, and we are not responsible for their acts, omissions, availability, or content.
Disclaimer of warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by law, GoalKeeper is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, error-free, or that it will meet your requirements or block any particular app, website, or content reliably.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of the above exclusions may not apply to you.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event will Byee Builds LLC be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or output, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) GoalKeeper, whether based on warranty, contract, tort, or any other legal theory, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability for all claims relating to the app will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us (if any) for the app in the twelve months before the claim, or fifty U.S. dollars ($50). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Byee Builds LLC and its officers, members, and agents from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the app, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any rights of a third party or any law.
Termination
These Terms apply while you use GoalKeeper. You may stop using the app and delete it at any time; deleting the app permanently removes your locally stored data. We may suspend or terminate your license if you breach these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination - including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law - will survive.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms as the app evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify users through the app. Your continued use of GoalKeeper after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of laws rules, except that the Apple-specific terms above are governed as required by Apple. You agree that any dispute not subject to those Apple terms will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Los Angeles, California, and you consent to their jurisdiction. Nothing in these Terms limits any mandatory consumer rights you have under the laws of your place of residence.
General
Severability. If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, that provision will be limited or removed to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
Entire agreement. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and the Apple App Store Terms of Service, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding GoalKeeper and supersede any prior agreements on that subject.
No waiver. Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
Assignment. You may not assign or transfer these Terms without our prior written consent. We may assign these Terms, for example in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
